I have often pondered this question, perhaps a bit longer than wisdom would dictate - not that I have any vested interest in sinning - but because I think an answer might emerge that would further settle the issue: why not sin if God doesn't hold it against you? . The tone of Paul's answer speaks volumes. . "God forbid!" certainly suggests that such a blatantly selfish, lascivious notion comes at a hefty price. It's so difficult for mortal man to process things of the spirit, so he boils it down to (a) whether or (b) not God remembers born-again man's sins. Try asking the question in spiritual terms and the full impact of how ludicrous it is comes fully to light.
Preachers of the Gospel, after you preach, if people are not asking you "Are you saying that we can just keep on sinning?", then you're probably not preaching the same Gospel that Paul the apostle preached...
Paul was constantly being asked that question when preaching the Gospel of Grace... Of course his answer to that question was always, "God forbid that we should keep on sinning once we are under Grace".
